Fifth straight loss for L.A before the all star break

Fifth straight loss for L.A before the all star break
The Lebron-Kobe duel? We had it. A close finish? we had it. Unfortunately, we missed the most important.

Kobe and Lebron combined for 72pts but the Cavs get a 114-108 victory over the Lakers for the 2nd time in 5 days. Seven players scored at least 11points for Cleveland.

For the 3rd time in one week, L.A struggled to get an important rebound at the end. We saw that in Toronto and vs New York. This time, down by 3 and with Lebron James missing his 2nd free throw, the rebound escaped from the Lakers, which had to foul James again.

Kobe scored 34pts including a long three to keep the hope for L.A with 30 sec to go on the game. Then James was fouled but L.A didn't get the rebound on James' 2nd attempt miss.
It was L.A fifth straight win. Since a great road win at San Antonio alst month, the Lakers have dropped 11 of their last 15 games. They're now 6 in the western conference.

Lebron put on a showlast night, outscoring Kobe with a 38pt effort. The two stars will meet again this week end at Las Vegas for the all star game.

A little bit of revenge in the air could be feeled at Las Vegas. Now Kobe has to get the MVP and give the West the Win. We'll hope so.

L.A returns to Staples but loses again

L.A returns to Staples but loses again
Kobe scored 31pts and gave his team the lead with 30 sec remaining. But L.A struggled to get a defensive rebound on the ensuing possession, giving a 2nd opportunity to the Knicks to drilled a last shot.

And that's they did. Curry converted an alley hoop dunk with 7sec to play, while Odom missed a last second jumper as L.A fall to New York 107-106.

Kobe didn't touch the ball on his team last play, and Odom missed a tough jumper at time expired, struggling to avoid L.A a 3rd straight loss at Staples Center.

"I think all 20,000 people in the building thought Kobe would take that last shot. We're just glad he didn't." Jamal Crawford said. Here is Kobe's answer: "Lamar had an opportunity to break the guy down, but it just didn't work out".

Evans had 16pts and Ronny played well finishing with 11pts on 5 of 5. But both failed to avoid a 4 straight loss. L.A is stucked with his 30th victory of the season. And with the loss of Steve Nash for Phoenix, Yao Ming for Houston and the current inconsistent play of the Spurs, L.A is missing opportunities to came back those teams in the standings.

L.A will try to avoid a season high 5 loss, a streak never reached by Phil Jackson as a coach.

Kobe outscores Lebron but L.A drops another one

Kobe outscores Lebron but L.A drops another one
With his teammates enable to step up and with the late losses, Kobe seemed to get back on KB8 mode in the 4th last night.
KB24 recorded the first 14pts for his club but was hekd scoreless in the last 3:38 as Cleveland made a late charge in a 99-90 victory over the Lakers.

Down by 11 at halftime, L.A played great defense in the 3rd, allowing only 12 Cavaliers points. Then Kobe started to be hot, scoring 14 straight points on 5 jumpers, giving his team a 79-76 lead with 5minutes remaining.

James only scored 18pts, but unlike Kobe, he got plenty of help in the closing moments.
Cleveland made a late charge and managed to get the way to the free throw line. The Cavs made 13 of 18 foul shots in a 35pt 4th quarter, giving them the victory.

Thus Kobe outdueled James, finishing with 36pts on 50% shooting, 7rbds & 6asts. The rest of the team shot a combined 19/54 (35%), struggling to step up in the last minutes.

Phil Jackson said: "According to Kobe, no one else wanted to step up in that sequence. That was something we were looking for: somebody else to try and get going."

L.A finished his longest road trip of the season with a 3-5 record. "The only positive thing about it is that's over", said Kobe.

Lakers lost in Detroit & Toronto

Lakers lost in Detroit & Toronto
After 2 straight wins, L.A has just lost 2 consecutives games. The 1st loss came in Detroit, where the Lakers haven't win since 2002.
In the 1st meeting between the two teams in the early season, the Pistons' defense limited Kobe to 2pts after three quarters. He still managed to finish the game with 19 but L.A lost badly.

This time, it wasn't that different. And the addition of Chris Webber was too much for L.A who dropped the game 93-78.

Speaking about Webber, Kobe said: "He's a phenomenal passer. It's fun to watch him, unless you are actually trying to stop him. When he was with Sacramento, he drove us crazy with those passes."

Kobe scored 18pts, shooting the ball 13times and committed 8 turnovers, one shy of his career high. Five players finished in double digit scoring but L.A shot less than 38%.
Getting more playing time, Ronny recorded his 1st career double double with 13pts & 11rbds in 25min.

MVP chants were heard in Toronto last night. But for once, it wasn't for Kobe. Chris Bosh made 10 straight shots at one point, leading the Raptors to a wild victory over the Lakers 96-92.

Regarding the way CB played, Kobe said: "I think he's a legitimate MVP candidate just because of what he's been able to do with this team, with this franchise and how he's performed. He made some big shots down the stretch. I love everything about him, I love his game, I love his work ethic. He definitely has my approval."

Kobe dunked hard with the left hand, giving L.A the lead with 2minutes remaining. But Peterson drilled a three on the ensuing possession, and Toronto got the lead for good.

Kobe had a good all around game with 25pts 9rbds 5asts & 3 steals. Down 86-75 with 5:41 to play, Kobe sparked a 11-0 Lakers run to tie the game, thanks to Cook, Evans and Parker who made consecutives threes. Kobe gave his team the lead with another layup but Bosh answered at the other end.

Evans finished the game with 19pts, Parker with 18 and Odom had a double double with 17pts & 12rbds.

L.A will try to end the road trip with a victory on Sunday at Cleveland.

Kobe get cheers from crowd again in L.A win

Kobe get cheers from crowd again in L.A win
If Kobe don't get the MVP trophee at the end of the season, it seems that he's the real one anyway. After watching the disappointement from NY fans for not being able to watch him play, then receiving MVP chants from the Boston crowd, Kobe get cheers in Atlanta.

He only scored 27pts in Los Angeles 90-83 victory over the Hawks, but his impact in the 4th make everybody in the building happy to be there.

Kobe scored nine straight points on 4/4 shooting in a span of 2-3 minutes, bringing the roar from the sellout crowd of Atlanta.
Joe Johnson said: "He made some great shots down the stretch, and I was draped all over him for some of them". His coach agreed: "He's a great player; he's one of the best players who has played our game. When he makes a 27-footer, falling away in the corner, you've got to come back on the other end and execute your offense."

It was particularly this shot, the last of his personal run who make the public get out of their feet. But unlike last year, he didn't continue his streak despite having the hot end, giving Parker the ball for a three pointer on the next possession.

Kobe said: "To me individually it doesn't mean much at this stage of my career; I've played in so many of those individual battles. It's more just, 'What can I do to help us win the game? A couple years ago I probably would have tried to end up with 25 points in the fourth quarter. Now it's not what's important."

Odom finished the game with 15pts & 18rbds. Bynum had a double double with 14pts & 10rbds, while Ronny added 8pts.
